About Us - The Real History
Paul Ford founded Projuice back in 2003 and started the first Juice Concept company in the UK offering the first facility where the customer can be guided by expert advisors to complete the ultimate Juice and Smoothie Bar.
The First Juice Café
Paul's background comes from electronics where he worked for Blue Chip Companies Sony and Panasonic. While visiting his customers, Paul would take his clients to a local Café to gain more of an understanding of their business, and the relaxed environment would assist the formation of the relationship with the client. During the years, Paul started drawing a business plan of a café environment, realizing that there was a massive opportunity in the area.
Paul decided after 8 years to leave the electronics industry and open the first Juice Café in the UK offering the following:
- Juice & Smoothies
- Deli bar
- Coffee bar
The first bar opened and it indicated how unprepared the unit was. It highlighted that the following had to be completed before any opening:
Training on:
- Food Prep
- Food Serving
- Food Presentation
- Manufacture of Smoothies & Juices
- Coffee Training
- Meeting and greeting customers on entrance.
One word of advice – Don't open until everyone is trained fully and the shop is ready. It can lose you £1,000's of pounds!
After the first bar was organized and running, other bars were opened, increasing the brand around the South West of England.
The Juice Concept Company
People would travel from around the UK to visit the bars and look at the Juice Station so they could copy the concept within their premises.
Paul & Adam Bignell (Area Manager) realized that they had a concept to offer and brain stormed on the idea. Adam and his wife Helen came up with a name PROJUICE – that's when we formulated the company.
In 2003 Paul sold all the Cafés to venture into Projuice opening up Juice and Smoothie Concepts throughout the UK. To date, Projuice has opened more than 800 bars and over 2,500 concepts.
